Summer Solstice in Santa Barbara, Ride the “Wave”

Ride the WAVE: The Ultimate Guide to the 2026 Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration

The brightest, boldest, and most beloved weekend in town is finally here! The 52nd Annual Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration is kicking off, and the energy in the community is absolutely electric.

This year’s official theme is WAVE—a perfect nod to our beautiful coastline and the overwhelming wave of creativity, music, and community spirit that washes over the city every June. Whether you are a lifelong local or visiting for the weekend, here is everything you need to know to make the most of this spectacular three-day weekend.

When & Where

Make sure these details are locked into your calendar so you don’t miss a single beat of the celebration:

When: Friday, June 19th – Sunday, June 21st, 2026

Where: Alameda Park (1400 Santa Barbara Street)

Cost: Free admission to the festival and parade!

The Main Event: The Solstice Parade

The crown jewel of the weekend is, of course, the famous Summer Solstice Parade. Expect massive human-powered floats, dazzling handmade costumes, and rhythmic dancing. Remember: no motorized vehicles or live animals are allowed, making this one of the most uniquely creative, community-driven parades in the world!

  • Time: Saturday, June 20th at 12:00 PM (Noon) sharp.
  • Route: The parade kicks off on Santa Barbara Street (between Ortega Street) and moves dynamically up toward Sola Street.
  • Pro Tip: Space fills up fast along the sidewalk. Arrive early to claim your spot, bring sunscreen, and get ready to catch the WAVE!

Three Days of Festival Fun at Alameda Park

The party doesn’t stop when the parade ends. Alameda Park transforms into a massive cultural hub for three full days, packed with over 80 arts and crafts vendors, delicious food, a beer and wine garden, and incredible live music across multiple stages.

The Live Music Highlights:

  • Friday Night Kickoff (4:00 PM – 9:00 PM): Get the weekend started with incredible acts like False Puppet and local legends Area 51.
  • Saturday Festival (12:00 PM – 8:00 PM): After the parade, dance the afternoon away to La Boheme with Darla Bea, The Academy, and Redfish.
  • Reggae Sunday (12:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Wind down the weekend with positive roots vibes featuring Skadaddyz, The Upbeat, and Cornerstone.

If you love electronic music and deep grooves, make sure to slip over to the Underground Soulstice Stage on Saturday and Sunday for incredible live DJ sets.

Sustainable Travel: Bike to the Festival!

Parking downtown during Solstice weekend can be a major headache. Thankfully, the City of Santa Barbara’s Sustainability and Resilience program is hosting a dedicated Bike Parking Area right at the festival.

  • Location: The corner of Micheltorena Street and Santa Barbara Street.
  • What to bring: Just don’t forget to bring your own bike lock to keep your ride secure while you enjoy the park.

Support the Magic: Volunteer & Join

The Summer Solstice Celebration is a 501(c)(3) non-profit event that relies entirely on community support to keep the arts alive. If you want to jump into the middle of the magic, they are actively looking for volunteers to help pour beer, sell merchandise, and assist with setup and teardown at Alameda Park.

For more information on the full lineup, VIP seating tickets, or how to register to volunteer, head straight over to the official website at SolsticeParade.com. See you out there in the sunshine!
